Why is this?
Your mind rules your behaviors, actions, and decisions, which is what produces outcomes. When you’re amidst a career change or pivot, there are many behaviors, actions, and decisions that are required for success. In fact, 95% of your beliefs live in your subconscious and are driving your actions every waking moment. And since the actions you take largely inform the results you get, your subconscious mind is controlling your life conditions.
Of course, there are conditions in the external environment that you can’t control, such as racism, sexism, heterosexism, ageism, classism, ableism, etc., all of which influence your outcomes if you fall into any of these non-dominant identities. But here’s the catch: It’s your beliefs about these conditions and associated actions – that ultimately give you control over them.
How does this work?
Your beliefs turn into self-fulfilling prophecies. This is because your beliefs turn into actions/habits, which then turn into your outcomes/realities. And due to one highly sophisticated [and annoying] function of your brain called confirmation bias, you’ll look for evidence to confirm your beliefs. These outcomes are evidence enough for your beliefs to be reinforced, and hence the vicious limiting belief cycle persists.
The human brain is an operating system and contains the hardware for your ideas, feelings, and beliefs, all of which direct your behaviors, actions, and decisions – directly informing your results or outcomes.
And just like your iPhone requires an OS upgrade to support new programs and functionalities, the same goes for your mind.
